Winter Park Wedding Flowers and the Ski Fence . . .   1 comment

Posted at 11:24 pm in Winter Park Colorado Weddings

This picture from Brinton Studios just made my day.  I loved working with Tiffaney and Dave on their intimate January wedding at Devils Thumb Ranch, right outside of Winter Park.  Tiffaney and Dave are fun, love photography and were completely on board for leaving the Ranch for some fun and different adventure wedding pictures.  The fabulous photographers and the lovely couple left property and I went back to work setting up the wedding – didn’t think anything of it.

Then I see these pictures and it has all come full circle.  That ski fence featured above was built by Jason (my husband) around our first house in Fraser.  This little 112 year old house (ummm, character??) with a 2,000 square foot detached garage (clearly most boys dream garage – the garage was bigger than the house) was the very place that Pick Me! Floral and Events began 6 years ago (i.e. my husband got his dream garage and within 6 months Rami and I completely took it over with flowers and sparkles).   The business grew, Pick Me Floral and Events moved into a commercial space in Fraser (and out of the garage!) and Jason and I sold that house and bought our current one.   Pick Me moved again into our kooky old bar space in Winter Park (but it is perfect for building wedding flowers)  But the part that remained unchanged was the ski fence of love (complete strangers would drive by weekly and drop off old skis to us for the 3 years we lived there — there was one gentleman who found a pair of old 3 pin x-c skis that he had boots for so he offered a trade) and of course, it would be the lovely Brintons who (completely unaware that this was my old house) would scout it and the see the beauty in something I took for granted . . .

Audrey and Josh got married at Devil’s Thumb Ranch   no comments

On the Wednesday afternoon between Christmas and New Years, I was reminded once again why I love what I do.  Audrey and Josh’s wedding at Devils Thumb Ranch was winter wedding perfection.  Beyond the cake (delicious and from Mermaid Bakery) or the lovely flowers (from Lisa of Sweet Pea) or these stunning photos from Brinton Studios – Audrey and Josh are so madly in love – it seemed like no one else was in the room.  I hope everyone feels like these two on their wedding day – thank you for picking us for your day-of wedding coordination.  I adored being a part of this perfect day. . .

Nope – not a Stetson commercial – this is what Devils Thumb Ranch actually look like  . . .

Sneak Peak of Dave and Rachel’s Devils Thumb Ranch wedding   no comments

My pictures will never do this wedding (or fabulous couple) justice.  Fun – fun – fun.  What more can I say?  When the groomsmen all wear one piece old school 1980′s ski suits, the bridesmaids are all rocking goggles, outdoor ceremony in Colorado in January . . . I knew that I had found a great couple.    This fabulous bride and groom designed entire wedding around snowflake tattoos – we definitely had a fun fabulous and one of a kind wedding – so  in antipication of the real deal photos – here is a sneak peak of the all white floral, succulent and birch wrap centerpieces . . .

Amy and Ryan – Winter “I DO” at Devils Thumb Ranch   no comments

Red, Orange and White – dahlias, peonies, roses and ginger.  Vintage Ski posters and lanterns.  Devils Thumb Ranch the week before Christmas.  From a design point of view, I was pretty happy.  Then came the radio flyer red wagon and I realized that this was going to be one of my favorite weddings in quite a while.

A huge thank you to Sarah Hays for sharing these lovely photos, the entire team at Devils Thumb Ranch, Maura from the Paper Guppy for all of the print work (I am obsessed with the vintage ski sign table numbers) Paula from Teacup Bakery, Ian from Elite DJ and most of all, to the fantastic Amy and Ryan for trusting me to create a fantastic design and coordinate a lovely day.  I wish you both of a lifetime of love and happy . . .now can we all go skiing?

Desiree and Brett got married at Devils Thumb Ranch   no comments

Desiree and Brett’s wedding was a snowy winter wonderland kind of Colorado Ranch wedding (it was only November but the snow was flying!).  I loved creating this floral design built around medium and dark pink roses, privet berries, dahlias, kale and Bells of Ireland.  Desiree created so many personal details (custom napkins, individual jars of jam, birdcages and custom wooden signs) that the entire day felt intimate and warm (despite the freezing temps!)  Devils Thumb Ranch served as the perfect venue,  Brinton Studios outdid themselves (AGAIN) capturing the day (click here to see the rest of this beautiful day) and Teacup Bakery created the delicious wedding cake.

Karina and Marcus – Devils Thumb Ranch Wedding   no comments

I think it is pretty obvious that I love my job – I love where I get to work and live and I love the people that I am fortunate enough to work with.  Karina and Marcus were no exception.  I think Karina and I talked just as much about Sayulita, Mexico as we did about her wedding.  I am lucky that I keep finding like souls to work with.  Now with no further ado – some of Casey Wigatow’s (of Two One Photography) gorgeous pictures of this beautiful July wedding at Devils Thumb Ranch.

This was the 3rd wedding this season where I was given a color palatte of orange, green and purple and told to “make something ususual and fun”.  Kermit mums, veronica, mokara orchids and orange voodoo roses and I was in love!  Thank you for trusting us to design your day.  And here is to the annual surf trip to Sayulita!

Annie and Jaime – Pole Creek Golf Course Wedding   no comments

A quick sneak peak of Annie and Jaime’s lovely October wedding at Pole Creek Golf Course in Tabernash, CO.  Pole Creek is the absolute perfect place for a Winter Park wedding with 8o guests or less.   A huge thank you to Jeff Skinner of Pure Life Photography for sharing this picture (I love what the clouds and her veil are doing!!)  More to come soon!

Brinton Studios and Pick Me! Floral and Events   no comments

Every once in a while in your professional life you come across someone who is meant to be a friend for life – I mean real life.  In the case of Brinton Studios, we got 2 out of the deal.  The flying bouquet (i.e. bridal bouquets being CHUCKED in the air as high as possible) has become somewhat of a signature picture in the last few years for Pick Me and Brinton Studios.  It all started with this . . .

The very first time we worked together on Mark and Annie’s wedding, I told CR and Tiffany that I was looking for a new logo – something fun and sassy and different.  I kid you not, moments later,  CR walked in and showed me this shot on his digital camera.  Needless to say – thank you Brinton Studios!  The color, the sky,  the light, the clouds looking like a sweet smoke trail, I couldn’t have planned this if I tried.  Since that fateful day in May two years ago, these magnificent photographers have been encouraging our mututal clients to throw the bouquets  and have FUN on their big days.  Needless to say, I never actually see this happening at the time.  But the end result is some of my favorite wedding pictures  . . .

Brinton Studios and Pick Me Floral and Events simply make weddings fun!

Lauren and Tony – Devils Thumb Ranch Wedding   no comments

I just came across one of my favorite Devils Thumb Ranch weddings from a few years ago featured on myweddings.com.   Lauren and Tony are gorgeous, kind and really do walk the walk they talk – green, organic and local.  I was thrilled to work with the lovely Katie Thurmes of Jenna Walker Photography, the lovely Erin from Plum Sage as well as the delightful boys from Hunker Down Bluegrass.  Lauren and Tony – your wedding was absolutely one of the best!  Click here to see the rest of this love story . . .
