Megan and Mike | Devils Thumb Ranch Wedding   Leave a comment

There is so much love that we have for Mike and Megan and their SPECTACULAR Devils Thumb Ranch Wedding that I am just about speechless.  Just about . . .  Enjoy these bonkers pretty photos from Brinton Studios.  Neutral can be absolutely STUNNING at the Ranch.  Take a looksy . . .

Apples?  An absolutely necessary decor item when some has that as a last name.   And what the heck IS an I-25 surprise?  That is when you are stuck on I-25 in Texas in a traffic jam and you meet the love of your life . . .

Emily and Dan | Grand Lake Lodge Wedding   Leave a comment

Emily and Dan’s wedding at the Grand Lake Lodge can be described as follows:  Martha Stewart meets the New West.  Yep, this kind of silliness is exactly why Emily and I (and her fabulous Mom) got along so well and had so much fun designing this yellow, cream and gray wedding.  Yellow, Cream and Gray is definitely a trend that we are not seeing an end of any time soon up here for mountain weddings.  Rather than decide one only – Emily selected tablescapes that alternated birch wrapped containers with a mix and match of milk glass filled with white and yellow flowers.  Add a few pops of blue (delphinium, thistle and iris) and we had a fresh fun look for this July mountain wedding.  Enjoy these lovely photos from our new friend Julie Afferbaugh Photography

A little bit of rain didn’t put a damper on anyone’s mood (but it did allow me to bust out the yellow umbrella :)  As soon as Emily took Dan’s hands during the ceremony the rain stopped and the most beautiful sunlight lit up the Knuptial Knoll at the Lodge.  It was honestly a breathtaking moment . . .

You have to love bagpipes, right?  We got to work with Michael Cunningham quite a few times this season and each and every time – WONDERFUL!!  For Emily’s bouquet I mixed white hydrangea with yellow mini-calla lilies, spray roses and billy balls.  Round and lovely – I do hope Martha would approve

But more than anything, I wish that everyone feels like this on their wedding day.  Emily and Dan – all the love in the world to you two.  Here is to a great ski season :)

Kristin and Pablo | Devils Thumb Ranch wedding-with a motorcycle!   Leave a comment

I met Kristin and Pablo when they were touring Devils Thumb Ranch and I was setting up another wedding last fall.  Pablo is such a wonderful smarty -pants – he proceeded in emailing me at that moment from his Iphone and telling me that I was doing a great job and that they would be calling.  I can not say it enough – I adore these two.  How is it possible that we were all living in Chicago at the same time and we didnt meet?  Not fair, I tell you.

Kristin had such a fun vision of what she wanted her Colorado Ranch wedding to look like – bright pink, purple and blue flowers accented against a silver.  Fluffy flowers like hydrangea, peonies and garden roses  juxtaposed with pods and wildflowers. I loved it!  Enjoy these delious photos from the wonderful Brinton Studios.   Paula from Teacup made the perfect dessert extravaganza and Matt Kenfield from My Elite DJ kept the crowd dancing all night (and even managed to accomodate a last minute desire for the couple to have their first dance in the middle of the field.  LOVE!

Pablo proposed to Kristen during a motorcycle trip through Yellowstone last summer — so it only made sense that the bike be there to share in the day as well!

Personally, I think the tell tale sign of a real Chicago girl is the ability to climb a fence – in a wedding dress – without spilling a cocktail ;)

And the most romantic part of it all – Imagine your first dance – in a gorgeous Colorado field

Then being joined by those that you love and love you both . . .

Kristin and Pablo – I wish you both all the love in the world and a lifetime of happy roadtrips . . .

Devils Thumb Ranch Wedding | Sneak Peak of Abby and Bobby   Leave a comment

Here at Pick Me! we certainly get to create a lot of Colorado mountain wildflower weddings — but my heart simply swoons when I get to create something as lovely, soft, romantic and gorgeous as the what we did for Abby’s wedding at Devils Thumb Ranch in July (photos courtesy of the delightful Paige Elizabeth).  Pale pinks, creams, ivories and beige colored garden roses, spray roses, lisianthus, sweet peas freesia, dahlias, dusty miller and mint . . .  And kuddos to any bride who can look this timeless while rocking 6″ stilletos in a field.  More photos to come soon – just wait until you see the centerpieces – best use of mercury glass ever . . .

Meghan and Adam | Devils Thumb Ranch Wedding   Leave a comment

I love every single teensy tiny detail of this wedding.  I love this couple and their friends and families.  Heck, I love this photographer Jensen Sutta (when you see his work, you will understand).   Meghan cancelled our first meeting because her puppy had gotten stung in the mouth by a bee.  Now this probably seems crazy but from that instant, I knew that I would love her.  She is a like minded soul who will ignore everyone else in the room and gravitate straight towards the dog.   (Sidenote here – the puppy was okay).    When we finally did get to sit down to start planning her Devils Thumb Ranch wedding she mentioned that her soon to be mother in law owned a “little store in Cherry Creek” and we could use items from the store.   Well, that “little store” also had the design contract to actually decorate Devils Thumb Ranch.  I was a chubby kid in a candy store when it came to decor for this heavenly Colorado Ranch wonder wedding.  Enjoy . . .

So much love to everyone who made this happen but most of all to Adam and Meghan – who made my “work” day an absolute delight.

A huge thank you to everyone involved!!!  :

Devil’s Thumb Ranch Wedding | Stephanie and Mike got married!   Leave a comment

I loved creating the flowers for Stephanie and Mike’s Devils Thumb Ranch wedding a few weeks ago.  White, yellow, blue and purple wildflower inspired flowers – another Colorado wildflower wedding that made me love being a part of Stephanie and Mike’s big day.  And now!  To celebrate the return home from their honeymoon, here are a few of Jenni Maroney’s (both co-founder AND fellow White List member!) gorgeous pictures of the day!

I sincerely hope that every bride feels like Stephanie on her wedding day.  Absolutely wonderful!

All the love in the world to Stephanie and Mike (and to their pretty amazing friends who did NOT go to see Widespread Panic that Saturday night at Red Rocks – those are some pretty great friends :)

Brittany and Tim | Devils Thumb Ranch May Wedding   Leave a comment

There are simply not enough words for how lovely Tim and Brittany (and their friends and families) are.  Kind, sweet and excited about the future and all of the opportunities that await them.  Brittany and Tim’s wedding over Memorial Day at Devils Thumb Ranch was absolutely spectacular and full of the personal wedding details that warm my heart.  Here are some of the beautiful photos from CR and Tiffany of Brinton Studios.

Ribbons, hot pink and orange flowers and chandeliers.  Brittany had done her homework before we started working on her wedding design and she knew exactly how she wanted this day to look and feel.  For a mountain wedding at the end of May (snow on the mountains and the grass and leaves are just starting to turn green)  bright colors are a great choice.  And when when Brittany told me that the only negative work review she had ever received was that she had to stop wearing ribbons in her hair to work (seriously, she is the most adorable person ever)  CLEARLY we had to work them in to the wedding design.  It’s who she is!

Julie Sandusky from JS Custom Design knocked my socks off with all of the print work. The invitations incorporated every single element of our design and the colors were spectacular.  Above we have the pink and orange escort cards (made to look like old school lift tickets) — see the slight nod to ribbons?

Quite possibly the nicest group of bridesmaids on the planet.

For decor in the Broad Axe Barn at Devils Thumb Ranch, we hung 3 individual 5′ chandeliers from the large wooden beams.  For the tables, we brought in champagne satin tablecloths with a light embroidered vine overlay (to soften the table).  We created two individual tablescapes (why make a decision when you can have both!) one being a low tuscan inspired ceramic pedestal containers filled with orange voodoo roses, fuschia roses pink hydrangea, sweet peas and pink amaranthus and the other table having a sand blasted manzanita branch anchored in river rocks with rose / orchids clusters and hanging LED candles (anchored in a bed of rose petals).  Every place setting was accented by a pink cymbidium orchid.  For a room with a ceiling as high as the one at Devils Thumb Ranch, I love to alternate the tablescapes.

Candy bar – Check!  Vintage wooden skis to sign instead of a guest book – check!

My favorite part of the evening – Brittany and her Dad started their father / daughter dance with a slow and sweet song (Somewhere Out There)  and about 30 seconds into the slow dance, the DJ switched it up to Michael Jackson’s Thriller and Brittany and her Dad suprised their guests by busting out all of the original dance moves.  It. was.  hysterical.

Brittany and Tim, all the love in the world to the two of you.  Working on your wedding was an absolute joy.

There is something pretty darn great about opening up a magazine (or looking at the cover!) and seeing some of your favorite brides from the last season featured.  AND – this has happened 3 times in the last few weeks.  That is a pretty great way to start out a new wedding season.

First we saw Laura and Fred’s Wildhorse Inn wedding from last July (shot by the amazing Paige Elizabeth) featured in The Knot Colorado Fall / Winter 2011

Then we saw the Lyndsey and Dryden’s October Devils Thumb Ranch wedding (shot by the lovely Jenna Walker) featured in  Luxe Mountain Weddings

http://luxemountainweddings.com/2011/05/17/preview-issue/

AND THEN, I saw Ashley and Kyle’s July Wildhorse Inn wedding (shot by the divine Jason and Gina Photography – planned by the lovely ladies of Save the Date Events and flowers by US! ) featured in Colorado Weddings Magazine.

Again, a huge thank you to each of these amazing brides for doing something fun, unique and original.  You continue to inspire us every day.

Merle and Chris | Las Vegas Wedding!   Leave a comment

What do you do when one of your best friends from college calls you and says “Yo, I’m getting hitched in Vegas.”  If you are me – you immediately book a ticket, take the weekend off, make your reservations at the MGM and get a spray tan :).   I absolutely adored working with Merle putting together the design and feel of the big day.  And HUGE props to the wildly talented Cindy Johnson of Cindy Johnson photography who somehow managed to be a photographer, a graphic designer, a bridesmaids and a super mom to an infant and a toddler at the same time.  I think she may be super-human.  Just sayin . . .

Personally, I am of the belief that if you get married in Las Vegas, you should absolutely have a lifesized cardboard replica of Elvis.  AND, when you go home to LA, you can always prop it up in the passenger seat of your car so you can drive in the HOV lanes . . .right?
